Every procedure is done at your own veterinarian's hospital. He brings his own dental equipment, digital dental X-rays, and technician, while your vet oversees anesthesia and recovery. “Around 2008, my labrador fell down the stairs and broke 2 of her canines. I did what most veterinarians would do and extracted the teeth. Not only did pulling 2 ‘healthy’ teeth break my heart, but she did not play with her toys the same after that.”
After that, Dr. Dening started looking at dentistry differently. He trained in endodontics so he could save damaged teeth with root canal therapy. His focus moved from pulling teeth to preserving them whenever he can.

For most of his 25-year career, Dr. Dening has focused on the dental health of dogs and cats. As medical director at Merrimack Veterinary Hospital for 12 years, he made dentistry part of every pet's routine care. When more owners started asking for help with dental issues, he began accepting referrals from other hospitals in 2018.
He started New Hampshire Veterinary Dentistry so pets could get advanced dental care at a hospital they already know and trust. That way, there’s no need for a long trip to a referral center.
